FENCE AROUND THE CHILDRENS PLAY AREA IN HALFWAY PARK

As we were unsuccessful in achieving the Aviva funding (there's always next year) HCC have applied for a share of Healthy 'n' Happy Scottish Government’s Community Choices Fund.

We will  keep trying until this is complete. Since it was so high on the public opion survey.

After feedback from local residents we have decided to run a very short community interest on line survey on Halfway Park. Please take 2 minutes out of your day to let us know what you think. This will help establish priorities we will discuss and take forward with SLC and others to make needed improvements. Just click on link

Halfway Park Survey

Following complaints from local residents about the state of the park: dog fouling in the open children’s play park, lack of lighting, rubbish and broken glass, unsafe areas, no gardens or benches to rest and enjoy the park, a grass football pitch that doesn’t get used as there are no changing facilities and a football pitch that is not maintained we felt it was time to do something about it. Our Community envisages the transformation of Halfway Park from a basic and unplanned open space with a few rudimentary leisure elements to a safe, accessible, inclusive, open and welcoming modern leisure park facility commensurate with a diverse and expanding population in excess of c.20,000 residents. In the short term (within 2 Years) we want to enhance the Children’s Play Park Elements within a safe boundary around the play park and whole park where it opens out to busy road, improve current paths, provide enhanced lighting and an exit barrier, improve supervision, ground maintenance, anti – social behavioural focus and provide vandal proof waste collection bins, increase safety within the park generally (better lighting, barriers entrances and exits, CCTV, park wardens, dog facilities) and introduce benches and garden areas (SLC Gardner, support from Allotment Group). In the longer term (within 5 years) we want to see an enhanced Sports Field and lighting serviced with an appropriate Multi-Functional Leisure Facility, including changing rooms, park markings, increased footfall within the park year on year, with a steady advertising funding stream, enhanced uses of the park including ensuring it can hold large community events with portable coverage, benches etc.
