A small team of representatives from PHCC & BLCC have held discussions with a view to merging into one Community Council for our area.
Both our Community Council's have similar issues and problems, and it is thought a single Community Council would help residents identify with their Community Council, encourage them to join, and get involved in the various discussions and issues in our communities.
Discussions are at an ealy stage and both Community Councils have formally agreed to continue the discussions.
A merger would require the approval of Midlothian Council. Prior to approval a public notice would require to be published, followed by a 90 day consultation period.
Following this period a paper would be presented to Midlothian Council. If agreed the merger of the Community Councils could then proceed.
The Communities Team are involved in the dicussions on the proposed merger, and are providing advice to both Community Councils.
