Tapestry News

Councillor Parker shared the latest plan for the new home for the Great Tapestry of Scotland at the November TCC meeting. Current plans are for a new circular building in the corner of the new roudabout at the station entrance on the corner opposite the station and the industrial estate! It is a very striking building and being clad in wood will fit well in the site. Plans were circulated to SBC cuncil members last week so we would expect them to apear in local press shortly.

On your bike by train

With the new franchise holder for the Borders Railway being a Dutch company they are a very bike friendly company. As well as much more space being allowed on the trains for bikes (and mobility scooters) than the existing franchisee was planning , they are also planning to have bike hire available at Tweedbank for travellers arriving.

Underpass.

Update

Two S5 puplils have undertaken to draw the outline in the underpass, Just waiting for final advice on type of paint to use before the project stats,

Pupils at the school designed a new mural for the Underpass. The workforce from Restorative Justice is on standby to clean and put an ‘undercoat’ on to the underpass. But we still need an ‘artist’ or group of people willing to transfer the out line drawing on to underpass so that it can be filled in, in a painting by numbers style. Do you have the skill to help to copy the mural from a 2 dimensional piece of paper to its 3 dimensional curved finished design. Or do you have skills in projectors and ‘copying’. Please contact TCC chairman John Cavaroli j.cavaroli@btinternet.com or SBC leader and local council member David Parker DParker@scotborders.gov.uk. Without your help this may not get done.

Festive Lighting

The TCC has taken initial steps to look at providing Festive lighting for the village. After consulting a professional lighting company a scheme in 5 phases centred round the loch has been submitted. These phases could be completed all at once or over several years. Thereafter spreading the lights to the new Station entrance would be a logical step before undertaking the much larger process of joining the two sites together.

To set on this road the TCC would need support from all of the village  both for the idea of the scheme and for assistance in making the scheme come to life.
