Twin Bin Refuse Collection System to Start on February 26th. 07 February 2008 The next phase of Torfaen's twin bin recycling scheme is to be rolled on 26/2/08 and will incluide the New Inn area. Most residents should have their new bins and food caddies by now. The first collection on 26th Feb will be for the green bin plus the black box.Torfaen is now recycling 38% of its waste and the aim is to go to 60% and possibly beyond this. Rember the more we recycle the less likely will be the need for the MBT plant on the old Re-Chem site. HOW THE NEW SYSTEM WORKS ON ALTERNATE WEEKS Week 1: Put out the Green Bin+Black Recycling Box Week 2: Put out the Black Bin+ Black Recyling Box WHAT TO PUT IN THE GREEN BIN

Food waste
best wrapped in old newspaper.
Garden Waste
including grass cutting, twigs, leaves, clippings,
dead plants and flowers.
NOT:
soil, rubble, pet litter, nappies plastic bags, japanese
knotweed
WHAT TO PUT IN THE BLACK RECYCLING BOX
Only: Glass bottles and jars
Plastic bottles
Tin cans and empty aerosols
Newspapers, mags, catalogues and directories
Clothing, textiles and paired shoes.
NOT:
Plastic Packaging, Window Glass, Pyrex and Crockery,
Envelopes.
WHAT TO PUT IN THE BLACK BIN
Everything which cannot be composted or recycled, i.e. evrything which cannot be oput in the green bin or black recycling box.
