Labour Candidates opposed to Shanks Application

The Labour Party candidates  in the forthcoming local governement elections on 3rd May have pledged to oppose the proposals to build a food waste plant on the Shanks site in Pontyfelin Lane.

John Turner, a Labour Candidate stated that he and his fellow Labour candidate would vote against the planning application should they be re-elected. As a former New Inn Councillor he voted agaianst the 2008 application for an MBT plant and would do so again for the AD food wate plant. He sited traffic problems, the new housing proposals off Newport Road, possible problems with smell, noise, vermin and its proximity to local housing as reasons for opposition.

Other election candidates have yet to make their views of the proposals known.
