Community Oppose Closure of Minor Injuries Unit
03 November 2011

Angry Torfaen residents attended a packing public meeting in Griffithstown last week to express their concern and dismay at proposals to closure the minor injuries unit at Panteg Hospital. Officals from the Anuerin Bevan Health Board say that the unit only received an average of 5 people per day and this is not sufficient to sustain it or offer patients a safe service. The ABHB was criticised for failing to properly  consult the community and other interested partners. The implications are that patients will have to travel to either Neville Hall or the Royal Gwent Hospitals to receive the service.

The current minor injuries unit is part GP led so why cannot this service be transferred to GP practices??
