Torfaen Says Yes To More Assembly Powers
05 March 2011

Yesterday for Torfaen voted a resounding 'yes' for more Welsh ssembly powers. 63% of those who voted votd 'yes' and 37% no. The turnout was only 33% .The Torfaen result almost exactly matched the overall result for Wales with only Monmoutshire narrowly voting no.

The Assembly will now be able to exercise its devolved responsibilities fully and make/change the law in any of the 20 areas of devolved responsibility given to it by he Wales 2006 Act without having to seek the permission of Westminster first. In other words proper and fully devolved government similar to that enjoyed by Scotland and the Northern Ireland Assembly.
