Sandy Dunlop and Les Stewart met recently with Cleland Sneddon to discuss the future of Achaleven School. What follows is the agreed joint statement.

“Representatives of the Connel Community Council met recently with the Executive Director, Cleland Sneddon of the Council’s Community Services to discuss education provision in the local area. The Community Council indicated that there was interest in registration at the mothballed Achaleven Primary School for session 12/13 and advised that a local survey was being undertaken to assess the level of interest. The Executive Director confirmed the current position in relation to school capacities in the wider North Lorn area. He said that there were no plans for any new school developments in the area and that the existing schools would be able to cope with the projected growth in pupil numbers, at least in the short term.  It was agreed that the Community Council and a small group of interested parents would make further contact with the Executive Director of Community Services once the survey had been completed to continue these discussions early in the new year”.
