Village Shop and Post Office

Connel Village Store and Post Office has Newspapers, Magazines as well as a full grocery selection, with fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh local butcher meat and a well-stocked frozen food cabinet. There is a good selection of wines and spirits and an In-Store Bakery. Freshly filled rolls and hot and cold pies and pastries are available, not forgetting the famous home made scones! Also in stock are coal, logs, cleaning materials, toiletries, over the counter medical products, greetings cards and a wide range of stationery and haberdashery goods.

 

Pubs and Restaurants

There are two good pubs/restaurants in the village. The Oyster Inn (aka Dunstaffnage Arms or 'Gluepot'), which is at the junction of the A85 and the A828, and the Falls of Lora, which is at the junction of the A85 and the east end of the village Main Street.

Doctors' Surgery with Pharmacy. 

Connel Surgery is on the main road through the village on the Loch side.

There is also a Pharmacy in the Surgery. Open 09.00 to 12.45 and 13.45 till 17.30. Monday to Friday.

Connel Village Hall

The Hall is very well used by all kinds of organisations and groups. For more information go to HALL USERS

St Oran's Church - Church of Scotland

Sunday Worship is at 10.30 am.  Church Hall activities are listed under HALL USERS.


Mobile Bank

 

The Royal Bank of Scotland provides a Mobile Banking Service twice a week. The Mobile Bank stops at the Falls of Lora Hotel on Mondays and Thursdays from 10am till 10.15am

 

 

Transportation

Connel is quite well served by bus and rail. The 403, (Oban - Dalmally)405 ,(Oban - Appin)  408,  (Oban - Bonawe)  and 415  (Oban - Dalavich)services are provided by West Coast Motors as is the 918 service to Fort William. The 978 service to Edinburgh and the 976 to Glasgow are both handled by Scottish Citylink Coaches Ltd . (Click on company names for Timetables and Info)

Scotrail run the train services from Oban to Glasgow Queen Street. See their site for Timetables and details.

Oban Airport is less than a mile from Connel on the shore of Ardmucknish Bay. Go to the Argyll & Bute Council Airport website for more details.
