Users of the A85 between Tyndrum and Oban and within the village of Taynuilt will be able to follow progress on a Transport Scotland £200,000 package of resurfacing schemes using Twitter. A spokesman for Scotland Transerv said;

‘For up to date information on our progress including immediate notification of earlier than expected road opening times, please follow www.twitter.com/scot_transerv.

The works, managed by Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to get underway at the East of Connel at 9pm on Sunday 4th September, 2011 for 5 nights finishing at 6am on Friday 9th September 2011. For the safety of the public and our workforce during construction the works will be carried out under a full closure.

The West of Taynuilt scheme will start on Monday 12th September 2011 and work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm, from Mondays to Fridays. The work is programmed to conclude at 6pm on Friday 16th September 2011. Due to the narrow nature of the carriageway in this area, for safety reasons works are to be carried out under a single lane closure with 10mph convoy working.

Local access will be maintained as far as possible and emergency services will have unrestricted access at all times. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to all road users.

Motorists should allow extra time for their journeys and pay attention to any advisory signs which will be in place throughout the works. For real time journey planning information visit TRAFFIC SCOTLAND
