TERM CONTRACT FOR MANAGEMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE SCOTTISH TRUNK ROAD NETWORK – NORTH WEST UNIT

A828 CONNEL – SOUTH BALLACHULISH TRUNK ROAD

BENDERLOCH PEDESTRIAN FOOTWAY – CONSULTATION

Scotland TranServ, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, is proposing to carry out footway works on the A828 Trunk Road at Benderloch.

The proposed footway is to be constructed in the existing southern verge adjacent to Victory Hall and is 50 metres in length. In addition to the proposed footway other works include a short length of retaining wall, pedestrian guardrail, and street lighting. For your information a draft consultation drawing has been attached to provide a graphical representation of the scheme.

During construction the Trunk Road will be reduced to one lane under temporary traffic signal control or similar approved Traffic Management System. It is anticipated that the works will commence in September 2011. The overall construction duration of the project is likely to be approximately 4 weeks and it is proposed that works will be carried out 5 days a week, from 0800 to 1800 hours.

Every effort will be made to minimise any disruption to vehicles, pedestrians and businesses. Access arrangements to the Victory Hall, business premises, residential properties and the ferry will, as far as possible, be maintained throughout the construction period. To reduce disruption the works will be constructed in a controlled manner, with good communication between affected parties. The works will be carried out and supervised by Scotland TranServ representatives throughout the contract period.

I would welcome any comments on any issues you may have in relation to this proposed scheme. Where applicable, please state any permission, consent, license or notice to be provided in order for this scheme to proceed. To allow for me to fully consider any points raised I would ask that you respond, if possible, within 14 days of receipt of this letter.
