This year the  Torfaen CBC elections are to be held on the 4th May. This year will represent a big challenge for the local Labour Party with UKIP probably chasing Labour for local seats. Here in New Inn the local Labour Party is fielding 3 excellent  new candidates including Mr Farooq Dastgir and Mr Adrian Williams.

Farooq has lived in New Inn for the past 30 years and was a former senior IT  officer with Torfaen CBC and Adrian( a former airline pilot) is a local lad and former West Mon pupil.Currently he is a facilities manager for a Newport Hospital.

Both are keen to improve on the current lack of active representation New Inn gets from its  Torfaen Councillors. Whilst Ray Mills does a conscienious job the other two have a  poor record of attendance at council meetings and its difficult what value they are adding to the community. The lack of additional community facilities and improvements to local infrastructure since 2008  is striking. Perhaps its time for a change!
