I am trying to find a photo or postcard of my Grandads coal business. His name was Thomas (Taffy) Knight and I think the business was run from what is now the Railway Musuem. Can anyone tell me if this is true and if so how I could get an old, 1942 - 1950 photo. Thank you.

How do I get a photo to you? I have a school photo from New Inn Primary which I would like to post to see if there is anyone left in the area.

Hi John Batt, I remember you and believe you may have sent me an e-mail some while back. I went to Abersychan Tech as well. More coincidence - I am also in New Zealand. More importantly I lived in New Inn in No 2 Ruth Road. I could see Pontypool Road station from my bedroom window and being keen on trains spent many hours watching the activities.I lived there from 1953 to 1959 and during that time the station was a very busy place. I went to New Inn school which in those days was in the main street of the village. I think where the learning centre is now. We wee transfered up to Greenlawn school when it opened and I was there until I sat the "eleven plus" and failed so I was of to the Wern school in Sabastopol. I had a year there and then sat the "second chance" exam to get into the tech at Abersychan. I have a good New Inn school photo of that time which I will upload to the site when I find out how. I can remember all of the faces but not many names so might need help in that direction. Very good to see a site dedicated to New Inn. I will certainly keep looking.
