NAG upset at Council's Attitude
19 July 2008
Members of the New inn Action Group expressed concern by the guidance given by the Borough 's Chief legal officer to Borough Councillors that they should not attend a briefing that was given by NAG on the use of the old Re-chem site for a domestic waste treatment plant.
NAG are to complain that this view is partial in favour of Shanks plc who recently had their planning application approved by the Council on 5/2/08.They argue that no such similar advice was given to members of the council who visited the Shanks plants in London last year  and were free to listern to the arguments put forward by the company and ask questions.

Cllr Fred Wildgust proposes a Final Solution
15 July 2008

Cllr. Fred Wildgust of Pontypool has recently suggested in an e-mail to Torfaen CBC that the 'Final Solution' to Torfaen's financial problems is to bulid a huge incinerator to burn domestic waste. Torfaen would make money by burning the waste of other local authiorities in South Wales. He does not say where this facility would be built or who would finance this mutli-million pound proposal. I hope he does not expect it to be sited in New Inn or bankrupt the Council in paying for it!!!!! The man is completely off his rocker. Or to be more polite- an unfocused self publicist.
