The Welsh Assembly Government recently announced a 2% increase in funding for Torfaen County Borough Council for next year 2008-09. This is less than the current rate of inflation making it the most difficult financial settlement for many years. This will mean a 'no growth' situation for the Borough and possible cuts in services. The consequence for Council Tax increases are unclear at the present time.
