The planning application submitted by Shanks for a Mechanical Biological Treatment plant on the old Rechem site to process solid domestic waste is to be considered at the next planning Committee meeting on Tuesday 11th September.

Details of the proposals have been published but without any recommendations and it is proposed that no discussion of the application take place at this meeting save to recommend that the application be determined by the full Council and that before this happens Members of the Council and representatives of the Standards and Ethics Committee and representatives of those who have objected to the application be invited to visit an MBT plant operating in London in October.
