New Inn resident Mr Walford Hutchins, 78, who was awarded the MBE for his services to music and the community plans to retire as the conductor of the Pontnewydd Male Voice Choir after more than 40 years of service. He has led the choir through hundreds of concerts and built up its reputation as one of the most popular choirs in the Gwent area. We wish him a very happy reitement.
