As a Community Councillor and Chair of the Usk Road Neighbourhood Watch
and Vice Chair of the New Inn Neighbourhood Watch, I deplore the closure
of the Pontypool Police Station because its closure will sharply reduce
any opportunities that the public and its representative enjoy of
working together with the police on matters affecting the people of
Pontypool.
As a result of the Home Office policy of focussing on neighbourhood
policing our relationship with the police has improved over the years in
combating crime and disorder. Unless we have physical local access to
the police such a relationship will be weakened.
Best wishes,
John Garwell.
Community Councillor for Upper New Inn
