Tow New Inn residents have been recodnised in the  New Year's Honours list.

Mr Walford Hutchings has been awared the MBE for his services to music and conducting foir more than 40 years. Formerly Head of Music at Blackwood Comprehensive School hee has directed the male voice choirs of Pontnewydd and Blaenavon as well as the Pontypool festival Choir. In 1998 he conducted a choir of 1000 voices at the Royal Albert Hall in London. He is also the organist at St Mary's Church in New Inn.

Dr Hasmukh Joshi has been awarded the MBE for his services to medical education and to the Royal College of General Practitioners. Dr Joshi was born in India in 1946 and practiced as a local GP.
