New Inn's first PACT (Partnerships and Communities Together)meeting with the local Police was held in Panteg Public Hall on Thursday evening 24/6/07. About 40 residents attended including local councillors. the meeting was chaired by P.C. Marc Johnstone who invited those present to higlight local matters of concern to them.

By far the most important issue was that of traffic management and in particular the parking of cars on double yellow lines and in place which were causing obstrruction to both other motorists and pedestrians.

The three most important issues identified by a vote on all those iotems listsed during the consultation were:

1. Parking on DYLs at the junction of The Highway with New Road.

2. Speeding along the Highway.

3. The dangerous nature odf the junction of the Highway with the narrow road going down past the Old stationmaster House to the Pologrounds Industrial Estate.

PC Johnstone promised that these three issues would be acted upon and he would report back at the next PACT meeting later this summer. It was suggested that the Transportation Officer of the Council attend the next meeting.
