Labour Candidate Lynne Neagle holds Torfaen in Assembly Elections

Turnout 23,215 (37.6%)
Labour majority 5,396 down from 6,944 in 2003
Compared with 2003 the turnout this time was up 5.5% and this was reflected across wales as a whole. Labour's share of the vote was down from 51.5% in 2003 to 42.7% due mainly to an increase in the Conservative vote of about 1200 voes and the fact that  Torfaen People's Vote gained 3,348 votes many of which would have come from Labour supporters.
Across South East Wales Regional seats were allocated as follows:
Joselyn Davies -Plaid Cymru
Mohammad Asghar- Plaid Cymru
William Graham - Conservative
Mike German- Liberal Democrat
In comparison with 2003 the Conseratives have lost one regional seat to Plaid Cymru
