Welcome to Roslin & Bilston Community Council

The website of the Roslin & Bilston Community Council aims to provide information to the local community on a range of issues discussed at monthly meetings.

IMPORTANT: Local Place Plan for Roslin and Bilston.

As you may be aware, Roslin and Bilston Community Council is drafting a local place plan (LPP).  This gives us all a vital chance to be part of Midlothian’s future.  Our LPP, if registered by Midlothian Council, will have statutory status.  Here is our first draft of the LPP.   It is being sent out to local residents, businesses and community groups to get their feedback.  Please let us have your views.

The LPP contains proposals for development and use of land. So (for example) bus services are not within the scope of this plan.

All views and comments will be carefully considered before we finalise the plan and submit it to Midlothian Council.

What is Roslin & Bilston Community Council?

The Community Council was formed in 1974 and it's objectives are to:

  • ascertain, co-ordinate and express to the local authority for its area and to public authorities, the views of the community which it represents, in relation to matters for which those authorities are responsible, and to take such action in the interests of that community as appears to it to be expedient and practicable.
  • encourage co-operation among the various community organisations in the area.
  • retain the identity of a Community amongst people living in the area.

Who is Roslin & Bilston Community Council for?

The Community Council is a voluntary organisation that meets once a month and provides a forum for residents, businesses and groups within Roslin, Bilston and the surrounding area.

Our meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month, alternating between Bilston and Roslin. Members of the public are free to come along and raise any issue they wish with the committee.  Also at the meetings are local councillors and a representative from Lothian and Borders Police.

Residents, people who run groups and own businesses in the area, people who have a strong interest in the community are welcome to join us. If you are interested in becoming a member please attend one of our monthly meetings or use our contact page.

Please see the Calendar page of the website or the Roslin and Bilston Community Council Facebook Page for details of the monthly meetings.
