11 November 2025Road Closures Nov-Dec 2025
The Highland Council Roads Department advises that the road from Marybank Primary School into the Glen of Strathconon will be closed from 24 November 25 to 14 December 25 for works to be carried out by Openreach to lay fibre cables. Working Hours will be 09 am to 1600 pm daily. The road will be fully open at all other times.
Work is planned primarily MON to FRI , However, depending on progress or issues found , weekend work may also be required.
Overnight work is NOT planned.
The closure will happen in two phases:
o From Marybank to the Newton Cottages (diversion via The Brae in Marybank and Mains of Fairburn Road)
o From the Newton Cottages to the Meig Dam (diversion via the Meig Dam and through Little Scatwell)
Obviously, residents within the closure areas will be allowed access to their properties.
The Highland Council advises that Openreach and Sunbelt (the Traffic Management suppliers) will have men onsite at each end of the closure and will make every effort to allow residents through the site, to minimise their disruption. This may incur short delays, as there would be cables/equipment in the road – but it will be accommodated.
If you have known journeys, doctors or hospital appointments, please let Openreach know and they will inform the men onsite).
School buses and emergency vehicles will be accommodated with absolutely minimal delay.
Those of you who order goods online (fuel oil, Christmas presents etc.) should bear in mind that delivery drivers might find it difficult to get to your house.

11 November 2025Christmas Vouchers 2025
This year, the Community Council applied for funding from both the SSE/Fairburn and EdF/Corriemoillie Community Funds to provide food vouchers for local residents, as we have done in previous years.
Unfortunately, the funding offer came with restrictions that would have made the project too difficult to administer fairly. As a result, the Community Council has decided not to go ahead with the voucher scheme this year.
We understand this may be disappointing news, but we hope to explore other ways of supporting everyone in our community in the future.
