New evening and afternoon courses in Welsh Literature (through the medium of English) are available in Rhondda Cynon Taff and Cardiff and include:-.
The Life and Work of Dylan Thomas.
This year we celebrate the centenary of Dylan Thomas’ birth, one of the greatest poets of our time. This course will take a detailed look at his work in the context of his short but profound life.
•The Four Branches of the Mabinogi.
Described as a classic of medieval European literature, this intriguing collection of ancient myths has inspired much debate. By tracing the Celtic roots of these tales, this course will suggest interpretations of these wondrous myths.
•The Welsh Bardic Tradition.
Spanning over 1500 years, one of the oldest and most sophisticated traditions of poetry in Europe. By exploring its beginnings in the 6th century, through to the high-culture of the Poets of the Princes and the revolutionary verse of Dafydd ap Gwilym, this course will give an insight into one of the most important bodies of Celtic literature.
