COUNCIL OPPOSES REDEVELOPMENT OF THE ANCHOR PUBLIC HOUSE

COUNCIL OPPOSES REDEVELOPMENT OF THE ANCHOR PUBLIC HOUSE..

PLANNING APPLICATION Number 13/0764/10 - Conversion of former public house and residential accommodation to six apartments at:- THE ANCHOR PUBLIC HOUSE 17 CARDIFF ROAD TAFF’S WELL CF15 7RB

The Community Council has been asked for its observations in respect of the above planning application and has made the following observation.

  • Whilst the Community Council does not, in principle, object to the conversion of the building it does have a major concern about the number of car parking spaces allocated on the site.
  • Both local residents and the Council were assured by the developer that 14 spaces would be available. However, the Council notes that on the application form, submitted to the planning department, the number of spaces has been reduced to 10.
  • Given the serious parking problems both in Anchor Street and on Cardiff Road the Council cannot support the application in its current form and therefore OBJECT TO THE APPLICATION on the grounds that there are insufficient car parking spaces.

As you may be aware our local County Council Member, Cllr Jill Bonetto is precluded, by law, from discussing the application prior to it being presented to the County's Planning Committee otherwise she would not be able to make representations at the meeting. She is however aware of the Council’s and residents concerns and will take them into account when this matter is determined by the County Council.

If you share the Community Council's view on this application please make your views known to the County Council's Planning Officer
