PLANNING APPLICATION REFUSED

PLANNING APPLICATION REFUSED

Following representations from the Community Council and local residents a controversial planning application to develop 6 houses on land to the rear of 58-61 Rhiw'r Ddar has been refused planning permission.

The application, which was recommended for approval by the planning department, was rejected after the intervention of the local County Council Member, Jill Bonetto requested a site meeting so officers could explain why this application was being recommended for approval when residents have previously had planning applications, to extend their garden
curtilages into this space refused permission.  Their appeals were also subsequently dismissed on the grounds that the land should be retained as open space.

Not satisfied with the explanation given Cllr Bonetto moved that the planning application be rejected and that the land remains a "public open space".

It is likely that the applicant will now appeal the refusal and a final determination will be made by the Welsh Assembly Government's planning inspectorate.

We will keep you informend of future developments
