Clarification on Bus shelter issue.

Was Cllr. Hobson's statement made error or was it a deliberate attempt to deceive the electorate?????

The Community Council would wish to clarify recent claims by Councillor Hobson that he arranged for the County Council to take control of the Bus shelters from the Community Council.

We are not sure if this statement was made in error or was a deliberate attempt to try to undermine the work undertaken by the Community Council to get RCT to replace the shelters.

For Councillor Hobson’s information, whilst the old District Council did pay for the old bus shelters it has not had responsibility for them since in April 1996, when the former Mid Glamorgan districts of Rhondda, Cynon Valley and Taff-Ely were merged to create RCT and took over responsibility for transpot, including bus shelters for these authotities.

We would expect our local County Councillor to at least know what responsibilities are held by the respective Councils but will leave it to the electorate to decide if Councillor Hobson’s claims were made in error or were a deliberate attempt to try to deceive the electorate.
