CONTROVERSIAL PLANNING APPLICATION WITHDRAWN

CONTROVERSIAL PLANNING APPLICATION WITHDRAWN

Councillor Jill  Bonetto
An application, to develop the land currently occupied by Rhys Davies Freight logistics, into 156 houses, 12 flats, offices, a residential care home and a restaurant/public house has been withdrawn, by the applicant, just before it was due to be presented to the planning committee.
If approved, the application, which was not submitted by Rhys Davies Freight Logistics but by an external company who own the lease to the land, could have force business on the industrial park to find alternative premises and would have seen over 150 local jobs at Rhys Davies' lost if the company was forced to relocate to another location.
Taff's Well and Nantgarw Community Council had unanimously agreed to oppose the application.
Commenting on the withdrawal of the application, Councillor Jill Bonetto said: "We are delighted that the application has been withdrawn but remain suspicious as to why it has been withdrawn at such a late sage. It was clear from the amount of opposition that the application generated that there was a real chance that the planning department might have recommended refusal and one wonders if amended plans will be resubmitted in the New Year. The Community Council will continue to monitor all planning applications in the area and will notify residents if, as suspected, an amended application is submitted".
