SEARCH FOR LOCAL LIBRARY FACILITY CONTINUES

SEARCH FOR LOCAL LIBRARY FACILITY CONTINUES

The working group, formed to retain library facilities in Taff's Well, has been examining some of the implications when the Taff's Well Library is transferred to the Coleg Morgannwg -Taff Ely Learning Campus.

The working group has continued to express its concern that there will be inadequate dedicated parking provision, for the public library, on the new site and that the transfer will not be to the detriment of local people.

However, as the move is now certain to take place, the working group is concentrating its efforts to ensure that some local provision is retained within Taff's Well Village.

In addition to the proposed mobile library service, favoured by the County Council, the group is making enquiries to see if the former Police Station can be leased, by the Community Council, and used as a "library hub". This would ensure that some dedicated provision is retained at a local level.

Obviously, the costs of such a facility will be a major factor and once these are known the group will be in a better position to finalise its proposals.

In the meantime, local residents are asked to let us know if they have any other suggestions that can be considered by the working group.

The Coleg Morgannwg has prepared some slides which give an artists impression of what the new facilities will be like and these can be viewed on the following link.
