Review of County Electoral Arrangments for RCT
Historic name of Taff’s Well to remain

Following a review of County Council boundaries, the local Government Boundaries Commission proposed that the Hawthorn and Taff’s Well electoral divisions be combined to form a new electoral division. This proposal resulted in an increase of an additional County Councillor, bringing the total to 3 County Councillors to serve the combined wards. It was further proposed that the new division be called Hawthorn, thereby removing the name of Taff’s Well.

However, following an objection, from the Community Council, that Taff’s Well was an historic area with its own identity, the Commission has agreed that the division will remain as it is with one County Council member and that the name of the division remains as Taff’s Well.
