NEW COMMUNITY GARDEN AND ALLOTMENT SITE

With the support of the Community Council the Taffs Well Allotments Association have  gained 2 brand new fields and hope to develop a NEW community garden and allotment site.

What we hope to develop is a fully communal growing area that involves all groups within the local community. The communal growing means that no-one needs to commit, everyone can be as free to grow what they like, when they like. There will be informal training and teaching from people who have been growing all their lives. So beginners are welcome.

We hope to involve groups such as scout troops and schools as well as charitable and other youth organisations. We are holding a meeting at the Taff’s Well Rugby Club (upstairs room) on Tuesday 29th at 7:30pm. The meeting will be facilitated by the Taffs Well Allotments Committee, and there will be presentations made by the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens.

The aim of this meeting is to mainly engage and understand what the local community want us to do with the land. We hope that it will be as flexible as possible and adaptable to people’s needs. Everyone’s input into this would be greatly appreciated as we would like to understand if this is something may be interested in, what everyone’s needs/preferences would be and how this could work for the community.

We would be more than happy to discuss this with anyone in more detail, so feel free to contact the Chairman on 07766557621.
