Crackdown on Anti Social Behaviour

Taff’s Well and Nantgarw Targeted in an effort to reduce crime.

Anti Social Behaviour and youth annoyance has been tackled in the first of many operations in the Taff’s Well and Nantgarw area.
The joint enforcement operation carried out by Local Authority Community Enforcement Officers and the Police resulted in 34 people being targeted, and given one of the following, a formal warning, a fixed penalty, an ASBO referral or confiscation of alcohol.

The crackdown comes after a number of issues were raised regarding annoyance caused by youths in and around the Ty Rhiw and the Chinese Restaurant on Cardiff road and illegal use of vehicles in the car park areas at the Bowling and Cinema Complex.
These specific areas were targeted during the last weekend in March and during the evening a number of enforcement actions were carried out;

• 1 fixed penalty notice for littering
• 3 sanction detections for misuse of drugs
• 2 stop searches on vehicles (relating to use of drugs at complex car park)
• 3 stop searches on persons (relating to alcohol consumption on street)
• 15 ASBO referrals submitted
• 1 HORT/1 issued (document requiring driver to produce documents)
• 1 formal warning issued for condition of tyres
• 1 fixed penalty was issued for delivering alcohol to a minor
• 2 juveniles were conveyed home for their safety
• 1 missing person was conveyed home
• 1 person issued a formal warning for urinating in a public place
• 1 flagon of cider seized from and 18 year old male
• 2 tins of carling seized from two separate 15 year old females

The Community Council is pleased that the Police and other bodies have responded to the concerns of local residents and will continue to support the PACT priorities for the area.
