Diamond Wedding

 Diamond Wedding Anniversary of
Mr Rennie Wood and Mrs Millie Wood

The story began when Miriam (better known as Millie) who lived in Edinburgh with her parents was enlisted into the Land army in 1942. Upon arriving in the borders Millie was lodged at Coveyheugh Hostel in Reston and worked on Black house farm in Reston until 1945. There she met Henry (better known as Rennie) who lived at Sunnnyside farm with his older brother John and younger sister Betty. As time went by Rennie and Millie started walking out and on the 12th June 1948 they were married at Houndwood Church, Rennie’s sister Betty was the Bridesmaid and David Bridgewater was the best man. Both minister’s Mr Robert Hamilton and Mr George Stewart attended the service. About a 100 people attended the reception which was held in Auchencraw Hall and the catering was provided by Scott’s the Bakers a great time was had by all.

Rennie and Millie now live in Burnmouth, they have two children Alan and Linda, and three grandchildren, Leigh, Daniel and Lynnett and are expecting a great grandchild in November.
