Forestry Commission Workshops
We are working on a new project with Young Scot, Scottish Government and Forestry Commission Scotland, and we’re looking for a group of around 15 young people aged between 14-23 to take part in three co-design sessions with Young Scot.
The project is looking at the future of Scotland’s forests and woodlands, and in will be focussing on:
. Exploring young people’s understanding, views and opinions regarding forests
. Developing a young people’s vision for the future of forestry
. Identifying priority areas for young people in relation to Forestry Commission Scotland’s new strategy and key messages to communicate
. Co-creating ideas around young person friendly content to launch alongside the new Forestry Commission Scotland strategy
Young Scot’s workshops are all about hearing what young people have to say. Our team will guide participants through a series of short and fun activities, usually working in small groups. We like to encourage you to discuss your thoughts and think creatively – no idea is too big or too small – and the relaxed, informal environment means you can get to know other young people too.
During the three workshops we’ll be asking you to think about the following:
. What your experiences of forests in Scotland are, and what you think people might use them for
. The different ways that Scotland’s forests contribute to our society
. What you want Scotland’s forests to be used for and to look like over the next 50 years
. How we could get more people involved in forests
. Ideas for how to promote forests to young people
. Your vision for the future of Scotland’s forests
No previous knowledge or experience of forests or nature is needed to take part, we’re just looking for people who can listen to other people’s ideas, work in a small group, and contribute their thoughts! Those taking part will be offered Young Scot Reward points which you can exchange for Rewards on our website. All of your travel expenses will be covered, and we provide snacks, food and drink for everyone who comes along.
