Midlothian Council - Weather Emergency Planning Meeting

Message from Midlothian Council 4th March

There was a weather emergency planning meeting today, which George Wilson attended.  These are the key points that arose:

As discussed on Friday, schools are going to be open on Monday morning in Midlothian.

Midlothian Council offices will be open again on Monday morning, and they are going to grit the car parks at Fairfield House, Midlothian House and St Andrews Street.

Staff and volunteers coming in to work are advised to use public transport as side roads are blocked with snow and many of the car parks will be difficult.

Waste is still not being collected, due to snow making it impossible for lorries to collect.  Hoping to start again on Tuesday.

The recycling centres are open but low usage up until now.

Please take care as some of the pavements are still very slippery underfoot.  Sensible footwear is required.

We want to emphasis again the importance of being a good neighbour to vulnerable people at this time.

If you have any good news stories of the community pulling together, Lynn Cochrane at the Council is looking for them.  Contact

communications@midlothian.gov.uk Suggest you label the e-mail 'Snow Good News Story'

There has been a lot of community and parent volunteering to shovel snow etc.  If you want to offer your services contact Lynn Cochrane at Midlothian Council. Contact communications@midlothian.gov.uk Suggest you label the e-mail 'Snow Want to Help'
