Saltire Summit nominations: The Saltire Awards are the Scottish Government's way of celebrating, recognising and rewarding the commitment, contribution and achievements of young volunteers in Scotland. The Award is designed to introduce young people to more regular, short-term volunteering. The Saltire Awards are an accredited awards scheme for volunteers aged 12-25 years. The awards are designed to recognise the efforts and commitment of young people who have volunteered. Having one or more awards looks great on job applications, CV’s or university/college applications as so many organisations and companies value experience developed through volunteering. Saltire Awards that can be gained differ in their commitment: that means that firstly there will be an Approach: (10 to 25 hours of volunteering completed) Once the Approach is completed, a young person can work their way up to the Ascent:  (200 hours), the Challenge:(can be a stand alone team event and normally consists of a day’s worth of volunteering) The Summit: This is a prestigious award that young people are nominated for by a volunteering organisation, in recognition of an outstanding contribution to volunteering. It is awarded to those who have not only completed an ‘Ascent’ but have also exceeded expectations in some way. The nominations are reviewed by a panel of Saltire Ambassadors. The Volunteer Midlothian is preparing for the next Summit presentation during national Volunteers’ Week at the Midlothian Volunteer Awards Ceremony on the 2nd of June 2022. MORE INFORMATION
