INADEQUATE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT – POLICING
The Community Council has written to the Police Commissioner to express concern over what it perceives as inadequate policing within the Taff’s Well Village.
The main are of concern is the totally inadequate traffic enforcement of vehicles parked on the zig- zag lines at the pedestrian crossing next to the Co-operative store which the Council believes amounts to a ‘Health & Safety Issue’.
We recognise that traffic enforcement is now undertaken by local authorities but with limited officers in RCT the area does not receive regular attention.
Our main concern is that we have two PCSO’s attached to the area who observe these infringements on a daily basis but inform us that neither they or the police have powers to intervene as these powers have been transferred to the County Council.
Many residents question what is the point of having the local PCSO’s if the cannot even ensure the safety of children using the pedestrian crossing.
We have requested that consideration be given to ensure that Police officers and PCSO’s do have powers to deal with these issues as it will be too late to apportion blame when a child is killed trying to use the crossing.
