Local proclamations to take place on Sunday 11 September

Short local proclamations will take place in a number of Borders towns at 12.45pm on Sunday 11 September.

Members of the public are invited to witness these historic proceedings.

•      Duns – Mercat Cross – Councillor John Greenwell

•      Hawick - Town Hall balcony – Councillor Watson McAteer, Convener and Honorary Provost

•      Galashiels - Chambers balcony – Alaistar Waddell, Town Crier

•      Jedburgh – Mercat Cross – Councillor Scott Hamilton

•      Kelso - Town Hall, The Square) – Gavin Horsburgh, Honorary Provost

•      Melrose - Mercat Cross/Plaza – Councillor Jenny Linehan

•      Peebles - Quadrangle at Chambers Institute – Councillor Julie Pirone

•      Selkirk – Mercat Cross – Keith Miller, Honorary Provost

•      Eyemouth – War Memorial - Lainé Goodman, Honorary Provost

A small number of other communities are also in the process of arranging proclamations.

In line with protocol, Union and Saltire flags on SBC buildings will be raised at 11am on Saturday 10 September to coincide with the Principal Proclamation of The King in London. Flags will be lowered to half-mast again at 1pm on Sunday 11 September following the local proclamations until after the state funeral.
