Routine community council elections occur every four years.  Between these times, CWCC can co-opt members up to a third of its total of 12 councillors.  There are currently 8 councillors, with room for 4 more co-opted members.

Ex-officio members include the four elected Highland Councillors for Ward 19 - Inverness South Ward - and all MSPs, MPs and MEPs whose wards or constituencies fall wholly or partly within the geographical area of the Community Council.  In practice, only the Highland Councillors attend, and ex-officio members have no voting rights on the Community Council.

Associate members are appointed for specific purposes for a specific period of time and do not need to live in the CWCC area.

Between elections, residents in the Cradlehall and Westhill Community Council area and on the Electoral Roll are encouraged to consider being co-opted to fill the vacancies in elected members.  Simply come along to the monthly meeting and make your wishes known to the chairman or secretary. You are also encouraged to stand for election, which does not require canvassing but simply completing an online nomination form.
