On Friday 1st November 2019, a community council was formed for the area of Slackbuie. The area was previously served by the Inverness South Community Council, which was split into separate community councils for Slackbuie, and Inshes and Milton of Leys.
Slackbuie Community Council received the required number of candidates for the community council to be able to form.
Slackbuie Community Council covers a diamond-shaped area, from the clubhouse of Loch Ness Golf Club at its apex down to the Black Wood of Leys at its base, and extends out to Balvonie of Leys at its West-most point and to its right-most opposite this, to the East of Fountainhead. The area includes local landmarks such as the Asda Superstore, Leys Castle, and the Travelodge and Inverness Kart Raceway on the Fairways Business Park.
