NLC/CCF Workshop Update
Representatives of NLC and Cumbernauld Community Forum along with representative from the Community Councils attended a three hour workshop on Tuesday the 13th of December at 6 pm in the Town Hall. The purpose of the workshop was to develop an action plan through a series of workshops to solve the many shortcoming of the New Town with particular focus on our much lamented Town Centre. We will keep you posted as events unfold in the coming months. CCF have since debated this matter still further in the presence of channel 4 cameras who are planning a follow up to the much publicised Demolition programme shown late last year. We will be inviting London Regional, the company who are building the new Antonine Centre to give a presentation to CCF at the end of February 2006. We also hope to discuss the failings of the current phases of the town centre with the other owners and NLC in an attempt to thrash out the problems that currently exist. It is proving extremely difficult to get all concerned parties to recognise that there is a serious problem. A sub committee of CCF has been formed to ernestly pursue all parties to get them around a table for serious discussion. The issue of the Town Centre has been the subject of debate in the Scottish Parliament. http://www.holyrood.tv/library.asp?title=Members'%20Business%20Debates§ion=34 This can only further our crusade for a better town centre.
