ARDOCH AND ITS COMMUNITY
Ardoch Development Trust covers the area defined as Ardoch Parish. This is a rural area made up of two distinct villages Braco and Greenloaning each with their own outlying areas. The area takes its name from the Roman Fort that sits just to the north of Braco. Greenloaning lies next to the A9 about 12 miles north of Stirling. The population across the parish is approx 1200 people in 470 households and has a higher than national average of economically inactive pension aged people. Although the area has a higher than national average of privately owned properties, there are Housing Association houses, council houses and more isolated rural cottages. Neither of the villages is on the mains gas grid. This has meant a reliance on expensive oil, LPG or electricity for home heating and hot water.
