The centre is owned by The Highland Council and operated by 1st Avoch Sea Scouts for the benefit of the community. It is available for booking by groups and individuals.

1st Avoch Sea Scouts provide nautical and land based adventure training for young people aged 10-18. We operate from the Avoch School and the nearby sailing club at Chanonry, Fortrose. We use Avoch and Fortrose Harbours for the fleet.

Black Isle Community Broadband
We have setup an organisation to try and secure a grant funding from Community Broadband Scotland in order to provide an alternate reliable high speed broadband service to cover as many of those addresses as we can.

ILM Highland - Handyperson Service
The Handyperson service provides practical help with odd jobs and small repairs around the home, which you might find difficult if you are older or have a disability. You may be eligible if you are aged over 65 or have a disability, and you live in Ross and Cromarty or Sutherland. You will only be charged for the cost of any materials that are needed to do the job. You will not be charged for the handyperson’s time or for the cost of them travelling to and from your home. Each Handyperson is vetted by Disclosure Scotland and carries personal identification. They will arrive in a fully equipped Handyperson Service van. Here are some examples of jobs the Handyperson can do: fit battery-operated smoke detectors; fit hand rails; clear pathways round house; fit curtain rails and hang curtains; hang pictures; move furniture within the house; fit shelves; fit security door and window locks; unblock sinks; replace tap washers; replace light bulbs and plugs; change fuses; replace broken window panes. They can also provide helpful advice about larger repairs.

Ross-shire Women’s Aid provide services in the Ross-shire, Skye and Lochalsh area these include: One to one support by phone, text or in person Group support Information on your rights Advocacy Safe accommodation We will listen in confidence and believe you. You can contact us by phone or arrange to meet a worker at a time and place which is safe for you. We will support you whether you are still with your partner or if you are ready to leave. We can help with whatever kind of abuse you are experiencing from your partner. We will support any women whose partner or ex-partner abuses them regardless of whether their partner is male or female.

Telecare is a service provided by NHS Highland which uses a combination of alarms, sensors and other equipment to help people live more independently and safely in their own home. The equipment provides direct contact with NHS Highland Hub Response Centre. The Centre has trained operators who answer calls 24/7. The service is backed up by Volunteer Responders (people who can be contacted by the control centre to respond when systems are activated) and Emergency Services if required.
