The first public meeting took place on Monday 12th July in the Community Centre. It was led by the Action Group formed to fight the taking of our Public Park.
Approx 250 attended which given it is the holiday season is a strong reflection of the feeling within the community over this upsetting decision taken by the Estates committee of South Lanarkshire Council to give away our Park. It was also clear how many of the people of Uddingston from all walks of life continue to use this park on a daily basis. Whilst it would be a good thing to have a new Health Centre it should be built on an alternative site, not on our Park.
At no point and indeed not even now has any consultation of any kind taken place with the people of Uddingston. Our Public Park is just to be taken from us.
We would ask that the people of Uddingston continue to fight this decision as it is unlikely to take a short time to have this decision withdrawn.
Hopefully the council will start to appreciate the mistake they have made in this decision.
