Old B&Q site
09 March 2010

The meeting of LCC on 8 March 2010 was told by representatives of the site owners (Morbaine Ltd) that they plan to redevelop the site to accommodate an 80,000 sq. ft store raised to the first floor to allow parking underneath ('store on stilts'). This will involve demolition, not only of the old GBW buildings beside the river, but also the old B&Q store. They will make new planning application. LCC expressed its concern about traffic complications.

Road closure

Road Closure - Kingsknowe Road North

Due to essential drainage work, Kingsknowe Road North will be closed as shown below.
From Monday 15 February Scottish Water and their contractor (Clancy Docrwa) will be installing a new sewer on Kingsknowe Road North to alleviate flooding issues. The job runs from outside house number 14 to outside house number 50 Kingsknowe Road North.
The contractors will control traffic on the route under temporary traffic lights until they reach no. 31. They require to tie into the manhole at the dog leg and the dimensions of the road do not allow traffic to flow. They require to close this section of road from number 31 to number 50 for 8 weeks (approximately) to construct this new sewer and build a new combined sewer overflow.
Access will be permitted for local residents and emergency vehicle only during the closure period.

There has been a further announcement that Kingsknowe Road North will be closed from Monday 8th March till Sunday 9th May inclusive for work being carried out by Scottish Water
