About Us

Llantrisant Fawr Community Council was formed from the amalgamation of the smaller Parish Councils of the villages of Llantrisant, Llanllowell, Llangeview and Gwernesney. The Council serves a scattered rural community of 300 residents occupying an area of about 23 square kilometres in the lower Usk Valley just north of Newport in South East Wales (UK). The community boundary encloses an area of outstanding natural beauty to just to the east of the town of Usk stretching from Gwernesney in the north and running southwards between the eastern bank of the river Usk and the Wentwood ridge as far as Gypsies Tump on the road to Bulmore and Caerleon.

The Community Council exists to act as a sounding board for the local community and makes representation on behalf of residents on local issues to the County Council and other bodies. We have a statutory right to be consulted on all matters which affect our community and planning, highways and environmental matters feature strongly in our work.

The Council meets in the Library of the Sessions House, Maryport Street, Usk every two months - January, March, May, July, September and November. Meetings are held usually on the second Thursday of the months and start at 7-15 pm. Notice of meetings are posted in Usk Public Library, on our website and on our notice boards located in Gwernesney, Llanllowell, Llantrisant and at Llwyna lane. Our AGM is in May each year prior to our business meeting.
