Village People

Everyone living in Gwernymynydd or Cadole has a story to tell. Of course the older residents are, the more stories and memories they have. It's important we record those memories so their stories of life in the village are not lost forever.

It is hoped we can build up a library of stories depicting life in Gwernymynydd and Cadole through the years. Who knows how far we can go and how many stories are out there just waiting to be told.

Morris Lloyd Thomas Born in 1924 Morris gives a fascinating account of life in the village before and after his time with the 43rd Marine Commandos in WWII.

Daisy Lauver (nee Millington)  Daisy tells of life in the Village as a young girl growing up during the war.  Although now a resident of Tuscon in the USA Gwernymynydd still holds fond memories - and was the subject of an amazing coincidence.

Mabel Rogers (nee Jones)  Mabel recalls the quiet, relatively gentle life of the village as a young girl and how WW II changed this with bombs dropping near Nercwys and prisoners of war being marched through the streets.
