We are writing to you today to inform you of forthcoming essential works at the A828 Connel Bridge to ensure the continued strength of the bridge.

Following recent damage caused by an over-height vehicle, a number of overhead cross beams require to be taken down and replaced. The works also involve carrying out repairs to parts of the cross beam's supporting structure which were also damaged. As the works are overhead, the contractor will be operating access plant and lifting equipment from the bridge deck.

Due to the restricted width available on the bridge we require overnight closures of Connel Bridge which have been booked for five nights from Sunday 4th to Thursday 8th December. The road will be closed to all traffic, both vehicular and pedestrain, between 22.00 and 06.00 hours to ensure the safety of the public and to allow the contractor unrestricted access to complete the works as quickly as possible.

Advance consultation has been undertaken with the local community councils to publicise the works and their need, although firm dates could only be announced following appointment of a suitable contractor.

Access for fire, police and ambulance vehicles on emergency duties will be provided at all times.
