Rannoch and Aberfeldy Ranked Most Deprived Area in Scotland for Access

At the end of January the latest edition of the SIMD, the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation, was published.  This ranked an area termed Rannoch and Aberfeldy as the most deprived in Scotland for the Access "Domain" one of seven domains used in determininig the most overall deprived areas of Scotland.  The principal purpose of the SIMD is to provide a means of identifying concentrations of deprivation in Scotland and where there is greater need for support and intervention.

This ranking was raised at February's Community Council Meeting and the question posed what, if anything, should we do about this ranking.  To aid further debate a paper has been prepared to explain what the ranking is and how it was made.  This can be downloaded along with a set of SIMD documents from the document library here.
